Wind prices fall, but like solar, margins are too low.

FT: “Prices for wind turbines have fallen by a third in the past four years, the US industry association has said, putting pressure on manufacturers’ margins even while demand soared.” “The American Wind Energy Association said the US wind turbine market overall had its best year on record, installing 13,130 megawatts of new capacity, up 28 per cent on 2011. …Wind accounted for 42 per cent of all the new power generation capacity installed in the US last year. …Although the wind tax credit was reprieved for another year – with a change in the rules that is expected to make it possible to claim the benefit for projects not yet in operation by the end of the year – the uncertainty has created a delay in orders.”
