Three years on from Deepwater Horizon, BP faces 2,200 lawsuits.

FT: Individuals, companies and government entities are scrambling to meet a three-year deadline for spill-related claims against the energy group. ….”The new suits are understood to include the claims by state and local governments for economic damages totalling more than $34bn which BP disclosed in February. The company has described those claims as “seriously flawed” and says it will defend itself against them.
….The divestment programme also affected production, which stood at 2.33m barrels of oil equivalent a day in the first quarter, 5 per cent lower than the same period in 2012. That was despite a ramp-up in production at the end of last year in profitable areas such as Angola and the North Sea.”
