Every five weeks, Chinese cities are adding 9,500 electric buses – the size of the London bus fleet

BYD’s first electric bus, just seven years ago, was seen as a joke. Now China’s e-buses are displacing 233,000 barrels of oil a day, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. 99% of the world’s 385,000 electric buses as of end 2017 are in China: 17 percent of the country’s entire fleet.

This is one of many arenas in Chins leads on climate change and air pollution. That environmental leadership is synonymous with business leadership in many of the technologies and industries of the 21st century. It is surprising to me that the residual foot draggers in the US, the UK and Australia have such great difficulty in seeing this.
