Good news stories from Kentucky, in an article in Renewable Energy World by Jim Marston of the Environmental Defense Fund, show that “mine work today requires mechanical and technical skills that are transferable to new industries.”
It seems that Trump is losing his (supposed) battle to resurrect coal. This encouraging article notes that there are only 53,000 US coal mining jobs left.

I can’t think of a better thing for those displaced from coal mining, but to become part of the newer generation of electricity production.
