NASA’s two Grace satellites (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) tracked trends in freshwater from 2002 to 2016: a first-of-its-kind mission. Results show that areas in northern and eastern India, the Middle East, California and Australia are in particular danger.
This is useful information indeed. What we have to guard against, of course, is a sense that we need these kinds of comprehensive studies before acting. As so many people have observed over the quarter-century-plus of awareness that climate-change poses existential threat to civilisation, if we wait too long before acting it becomes too late. Jim Hansen of NASA first warned of that potentially existential threat, in Congressional testimony, in 1988.
