AI can now manipulate people’s movements and speech in photorealistic fake videos

The development will be made public at a virtual reality conference in August in a paper that has just one sentence on ethical concerns.

Futurism: “The researchers suggest thatsomeoneought to look into better watermarking technologies or other ways to spot fake videos. Not them, though. They’re too busy making it easier than ever to create flawless manipulated videos.”

  1. The worst part isn’t that someone could appear in a fake video – it’s that it will quickly become commonplace to claim that their appearance in a video is fake and so allow them to do whatever they like. E.g. police claiming that bodycam footage is fake, after brutality.
