Big Oil asks US government for $12 bn to pay for sea wall to save Texas oil coast from sea-level rise

They wish to build a 60 mile spine of concrete on one of the world’s largest concentrations of petrochemical facilities, including most of Texas’ 30 refineries.

Picture the scene: well-fed Texan oil lobbyists pitching for this in Washington to politicians viscerally opposed to most federal spending, who profess not to believe in climate change …not least their own Senators.
